Freight Shipping Configuration

This knowledge base goes through the installation and setup of the WebShopApps Freight extensions.  By the end of the series you should hopefully have your site running the extension successfully and retrieving Freight Rates.

Before you start make sure you have an account with the respective Carrier, else you won’t be able to retrieve rates.

Follow these steps to install and setup your extension

Step
Install the extension
Configure Freight Common Settings under System->Configuration->Shipping Settings
Configure new shipping carrier under System->Configuration->Shipping Methods
Edit Products to setup Freight Class and/or define must ship freight as appropriate

Bear in mind that with the Freight extension it will only show if the weight threshold is reached as specified in the common settings under Shipping Settings, or if the item is marked as only shipping freight. Otherwise the standard carriers will still show.

Once configured you will need to test the Freight extension to ensure its working correctly. The most common issues seen are either not having enough weight in the cart or an item marked as Freight to force the shipment to get a Freight quote, or having invalid credentials. The troubleshooting guide walks through how to diagnose and fix these issues.
