Scenario

I would like to limit the Small Box so that a specific product can only packed twice within the single Small Box. for example only 2 Books will fit within the Small Box for shipping. How can I achieve this through using the Dimensional Shipping extension?

Solution

The solution is to set a Max quantity limit on the box configuration through the configuration panel located under Catalog>Manage Products>”Desired Product”>Individual Shipping Boxes. The screenshot below show that I have limited the Small box so that only 2 of these items can be packed within the Small Box:

The following screenshot shows the initial configuration panel to set the dimensions of the desired boxes you would like to use when shipping items. This configuration panel can be located under Catalog>Manage Boxes:

This screenshot shows that when the quantity is 1 for the specific product then the shipping box used is the Small Box. To view this information you will need to turn on the logging and view the log titled ‘Packages Sent To Carrier':

This screenshot shows that when quantity is 3 for the specific product then the Medium Box is used. This is due to the quantity exceeding the limit set under the Individual Shipping Boxes configuration panel. To view this information you will need to turn on the WebShopApps logging and view the log titled ‘Packages Sent To Carrier':
